About Us

A company built on a love for sports, health, horses and family

LG project Equine Therapy was founded by the Litz Girls (LG). They are a mother and two daughters that have played competitive sports from a young age to college years. One daughter is striving to be in sports medicine and the other in animal health care. The girls started riding horses and eventually developed a strong passion for barrel racing. Naturally, the combination of all their experiences and career dreams led them to blend their paths into one and want to take care of their and other family's athletes, horses.

What is PEMF?

One of the most talked-about therapies in the horse world today is PEMF, or Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. This is a non-invasive technology that uses magnetic fields to stimulate and encourage cellular health. Every cell in a horse's body has an electrical charge. When a cell is damaged or isn't functioning optimally due to injury, stress, or illness, its charge is reduced. PEMF works by sending a series of powerful, but very short, pulses of electromagnetic energy into the body. These pulses create a rapidly changing magnetic field that penetrates deep into tissues, including muscle, bone, and connective tissue.

This process is similar to giving the cells a little "jump start." The magnetic energy induces a tiny electrical current within the cells, which helps to re-establish their natural charge. By restoring this charge, PEMF can help improve cellular function, which in turn supports the body's natural healing processes. The therapy is applied using a variety of devices, such as blankets, boots, or targeted applicators, which allow for a focused and controlled application to specific areas of the horse's body. It is a quiet, gentle process that many horses find quite relaxing.

Benefits of PEMF

With an understanding of what PEMF is, the next step is to explore why so many horse professionals, from veterinarians and chiropractors to riders and trainers, are incorporating it into their horse care routines. The benefits of PEMF therapy stem directly from its ability to support and enhance cellular function.

  • Injury and Recovery: PEMF can be a powerful tool in a horse's recovery from an injury. By promoting cellular health, it can help reduce inflammation and swelling and accelerate the natural repair process of tissues, bones, and ligaments. This makes it a great therapy for everything from a sprained tendon to a bone bruise.
  • Pain Management: Many horses, especially those in demanding disciplines, deal with chronic aches and pains. PEMF is known to help reduce discomfort by addressing the underlying inflammation and improving circulation. This can lead to a more comfortable and willing horse, whether in the stall or under saddle.
  • Performance and Maintenance: Even in healthy horses, PEMF can be a valuable maintenance tool. Regular sessions can help to keep muscles supple and relaxed, prevent minor issues from becoming major problems, and aid in post-workout recovery. By improving circulation and oxygen flow to the tissues, PEMF can help a horse's body perform at its best and recover more efficiently after a tough ride or competition.
  • Stress Reduction: Many horses find PEMF sessions to be very relaxing. The gentle pulsing action can have a calming effect on the nervous system, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. This can be particularly beneficial for horses that are high-strung, nervous travelers, or simply need to unwind after a strenuous day.

PEMF therapy is not a "magic cure-all," but a powerful and effective complementary tool in a comprehensive equine health program. When used alongside proper veterinary care, a balanced diet, and a well-designed exercise program, it can help horses feel their best, perform at their peak, and live a long, healthy life. Our occupational therapists will help you regain independence and improve your ability to perform daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, and cooking.
